Welcome to Rim Rock's Dog Wood Cabins!
New rustic cabin
lodging with modern comforts, surrounded by The Shawnee National
Forest in Southern Illinois. Adjacent to Rim Rock and
1 mile from Pounds Hollow Lake, we are only ¼ mile from the Camp Cadiz to High Knob section of
The River To River Trail, directly on the American Discovery
Trail and the Shawnee Hills Scenic Byway in Eastern Southern
Illinois. Trails for hiking, mountain biking, bicycling, bouldering, bird
watching or rock climbing are endless and nearby. Fish, swim, hike
and picnic at Pounds Hollow Lake. Enjoy the overlooks, boulders
and canyons at Rim Rock Recreational trail which is just across
the road from the cabins. Near Cave in Rock, Garden of the
Gods, free ferry to Kentucky, Pounds Hollow Lake, Glen O Jones
Lake, Hog Rock, Iron Furnace, Little Sturgis, Ohio River, Tower
Rock and the Shawnee Queen River Taxi. A short drive from
Dixon Springs, Bell Smith Springs, Paducah River Front, Fort
Massac, Paducah Quilt Show, riverboat gambling, Kentucky Amish
country, Metropolis, Tunnel Hill biking trail, Golconda, Old
Shawneetown, Saline County Wildlife Area, Lusk Creek, One Horse
Gap, Burden Falls, Cache River Refuge, Giant City State Park,
Mermet Springs scuba diving and
much more. Hog Rock and Little Sturgis bike rallies are nearby.

The
Cabins Available |
| We are
now offering three cabins. Our original two cabins,
Cougar Bluff and the Bear's Den cabin include the
following. Each has an 8’x12’ screened in porch, full kitchen
including stove with oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee
maker, toaster and all kitchen essentials. Each cabin has
a big shower big enough to accommodate two. The cabins have
air, heat, ceiling fans, satellite TV, VCR and DVD. Cabin size is
12'x26' including screened in porch and a cozy one room with
separate bath and sleeping loft. The new Deer Run
cabin has everything our other two
cabins have...only larger. The screened in porch is 24' x
10'. The bedroom is separate and has it's own 19"
satellite tv/dvd. The loft is larger, has dormer windows on
each side and includes two full size innerspring mattresses. The kitchen has full size appliances. The cabins are decorated
in a very pleasing nature oriented decor and have a cedar
interior with vaulted ceiling.
Cabins have sheets, towels, kitchen
towels, dishes, pots and pans and much more. We no longer provide
charcoal and lighter for the grill but do provide wood for your fire. There is
dish soap and cleaning materials as well as bar soap in the
bathroom. We provide coffee, tea, popcorn and some of the
normal condiments. Come relax and enjoy yourselves.
Our goal is that you will want to
come back again and again to our wonderful cabins in Southern Illinois......and that you will tell all your
friends and family about our wonderful area.

Cougar Bluff Cabin: Features a futon
with innerspring mattress downstairs and a sleeping loft
with double innerspring mattress. Sleeps four comfortably.
This cabin has a 27" satellite tv, dvd, vcr and an electric fireplace. Games,
puzzles, tapes and books are provided. Screened in porch has
comfortable bent wood chairs, table and bench. Charcoal grill is
provided and there is a separate fire ring with wood for each
cabin |

Bears Den Cabin: Features bunk beds and
a love seat/single bed downstairs. Sleeping loft has double
innerspring mattress. Sleeps five comfortably. This cabin
has a 19" satellite tv,
dvd, vcr and an electric fireplace. Games, puzzles, tapes, and books are provided.
Screened in porch has comfortable bentwood chairs, a table and bench. Charcoal grill is provided and there
is a separate fire ring with wood for each cabin.

Deer Run Cabin:
Features separate bedroom with double bed and 19" satellite tv/dvd.
Loft has two double beds.
Living area has futon,
fireplace and 19" satellite tv/dvd/vcr. The cabin
will sleep 8 comfortably. But, remember... the cabin
has only one bathroom and will be crowded when everyone is
up. This cabin has a kitchen with full size appliances and
is larger than our other two cabins. Games, puzzles,
tapes and books are provided. Large 24' x 10' screened
in porch gives more space and would even be a great place to
sleep. Charcoal grill is provided and there is a
separate fire ring with wood for each cabin.
No more than 8 people in this cabin please....
$10 extra per person per night for over six. |

availability calendar up to date it is important you assure the
dates are available with personal contact BEFORE making the

Important: I always send out an informational
postcard when I receive a deposit. Be sure and let me know
if this is a surprise or if you need the postcard sent to a
different address than is on your check or PayPal deposit. |

Cancellation Policy |
|
Refunds given for cancellation
if notified 14 days prior to check in. If something unexpected
comes up at the last minute, we are not unreasonable and will
allow you to use your deposit at another time. |

Check In / Check Out |
| Check in 3:00 Check out 11:00 (if the cabins are
empty the day you leave you are welcome to extend your checkout
- if the cabins are empty the night before you arrive you are
welcome to come early. Just talk to us about your wishes. |
| Our cabins are in a
private setting with forest all around. They are in the
same general vicinity.....far enough apart not to be intrusive -
but close enough to use for family gatherings. You cannot
see our house, but we are nearby on the property. Our
guests feel secure, but have their privacy as well. We are
just off a very beautiful blacktop which wanders through the
Shawnee National Forest. The only gravel road is our lane
to the cabins. |

Rules & Regulations |
|
We are extremely pet friendly. We do not charge extra for
pets. But, we do expect pet owners to clean up after their
pets - especially pet hair. Pets should not be left
loose or uncrated when you are gone from the cabin. The most
well behaved pet will get upset if left in an unfamiliar place
by themselves. If we continue to receive the wonderful
cooperation from pet owners we will be able to continue our
policy of welcoming pets.
-No
smoking
-We feel you will not be comfortable if you have more than
four adults in either of our two smaller cabins.
if you want to squeeze one more in, it is ok with us - but
no more than five. Cougar Bluff and the Bear's Den are cute and wonderfully appointed, but they are not
large. Consider Deer Run if you need more room.
| Note: We have had
significant increases in our electric rates. Bob and I
do not want to raise our prices, so in order to offset
some of the cost we will no longer provide charcoal or
lighter. Thanks for Understanding. |
