Karbers Ridge/Pounds Hollow blacktop. We are 370 miles from Chicago, 166 miles
from St. Louis, 70 miles from Evansville, and 65 miles from Paducah. If you are
using a trip maker system, input Karbers Ridge instead of our Elizabethtown
mailing address. The trip maker systems do not recognize some of the
roads that would make your trip shorter.
If you are arriving in Carbondale by Amtrak
. After picking up your rental car at the station (ask how to get
to 13 EAST). Take 13 East out of Carbondale approximately 50 miles to Hwy
1 (you will go through Marion (good Kroger store in
Marion on left just E of 57 on 13) and Harrisburg - Harrisburg is a good place to get
groceries. For alternative Hwy 34 route out of
Harrisburg see green below "second route") Continue on Hwy
13 to Hwy 1. Hwy 1 is 23 miles East of Harrisburg on 13. At Hwy 13
and Hwy 1 take Hwy 1 South (right). Drive about 8.8 miles to Pounds Hollow Blacktop.
There is a blue tourism sign just previous to the turnoff with our name as well
as a brown forestry sign saying "Garden of the Gods" and Pounds Hollow".
Turn right on Pounds Hollow blacktop. There is an old motel just at the
turn off. Drive 3.3 miles. You will see Hills Cemetery on the left
